The processor performance requirements in communication,multimedia,high performance computing and other areas are getting higher and higher,and the processor architecture has been developed from Multi-core to Many-core.In the field of Many-core,communication mechanism,and interconnection mode are a very critical problem and a hot research topic to improve system communication efficiency:Based on the analysis of communication mechanism and interconnection mode,this paper present an Opto-Electronic hybrid interconnect Many-core architecture with Message Passing communication mechanism based on 2D Mesh NOC and Optical bus.According to the different communication distance,this architecture using different interconnection network to improve the efficiency of inter-core communication.First of all,this paper analysis the topological structure performance of 2D Mesh NOC and Optical bus in Many-core architecture,and present an Opto-Electronic hybrid interconnect Many-core architecture based on it.Then design Message Passing communication protocol,establish Message Passing mechanism software interface library based on C language,add hardware support of Message Passing communication mechanism in a simulator based on RISC-V and complete Message Passing communication model.Thirdly,design the Opto-Electronic hybrid interconnects model with configurable critical distance based on 2D Mesh NOC and Optical bus.Then compare the average latency under different loads based on the stochastic data with constraints.The results show that the Opto-Electronic hybrid interconnects can not only promote the communication efficiency in long distance,but also ease network congestion,and its performance better than traditional 2D Mesh NOC.At last,this paper integrates the above Message Passing communication and interconnection network model,establish 4×4 Opto-Electronic hybrid interconnect Many-core model which support Message Passing mechanism.Testing parallel matrix multiplication and text matching program,and use speed up as evaluation basis,verified that the Opto-Electronic hybrid interconnection network can effectively improve the performance of large scale parallel processors.
