It is an ordinary phenomenon that some scientific Articles have no citation dur ing their communication life.It is of importance for us to study the influencing factors about uncited scientific articles, which can help us to understand the uncited phenomenon correctly,to explore the value of uncited articles, and to clarify the main factors affecting the uncited articles. There are a few researches which aim to study the influencing factors of uncited scientif ic articles, the related papers are scattered widely, and the research contents often focused on some special points. What's more, the impact mechanism of each influence factor has not been analyzed from the perspective of time evolution. This paper takes library, information and literature science as research sample, and the study perspective focuses on scientific researchers.Based on the relevant research and practical data that can be obtained, some initial inf luencing factors of uncited scientif ic articles are selected. The birthday and the promotion time of researchers in library, information and literature science areachieved in public.Based on this, more than 200 scholars, different ages and different titles, are selected, which their scientific articles pub lished are the source data.Baesd on the self-programming software, the data are downloaded from the CSSCI,which data items are including title, authors, funding sourcees, author institutions, keywords, references and so on,and the citation data by the first author and the titles are extracted. The influencing factors of uncited articles are identif ied, focused on formal features and content ones, the mechanism of the factors is explored following the time evolution, and the conceptual model of the influence factors is given. The main contents and results of this study are as follows:(1)The influencing factors for zero citation are analyzed. On the basis of lots of related literatures and the actual data that can be obtained in practices, the main influencing factors of uncited scientific articles are extracetd, including formal and contentful ones. The formal influencing factors are divided into three parts. The first one is related to authors, which include the title, age, affiliation, and author number in a paper, the second one is about the articles themselves, including the length, the number of keywords and the number of references, and the last one is the funds types. The content influencing factors focuses on the keywords, which is viewed as the objective reflection of the content for every article.(2)The influencing mechanism of each influence factor for zero citation is explored. For the formal influencing factors, the influence factors are hierarchically analyzed to reflect the different levels of factors. From the perspective of time evolution, paired samples nonparametric test is used to analyze whether there are significant differences between the different levels, which time window are divided into 1 to 6 after the papers had published, and the time series graph are used to detect the influence mechanism of each influencing factors in the time evolution. For the contentful influencing factors, the keywords given by the author(s)are used to present the articles content, and the vector space model method is used to analyze the content similar ity among the cited articles, uncited articles and the overall subject hotspot articles.(3)The model of influencing factors for zero citation is constructed.Based on the deiscoveries above,a conceptual model is given to interpret the processes of zero citation, originated in citation selection and citation motivation from the perspective of scientific communication.
