Digital Water Gird, a product of the development of water resources information, is also a target and a new mode in the pursuit of the modernization of water conservancy management.Colligating spatial geographic information and hydrometeorology data of historical and real-time monitoring, integrating with visual information technology, Digital Water Gird is designed to describe the various states of river water in the past and future, so as to provide the decision support for the business management of water conservancy. Taking the thought of thematization service as the guide, this study designed and developed a visualization platform of digital water gird in the base of three dimensional geographic information system (3D-GIS),and various technologies, such as 3S integration, database, virtual reality, visual simulation and so on, were utilized in our research. In addition, taking Yushu as an example, the proposed visual platform of digital water gird based on thematization service was applied to realize the comprehensive application of water business. The main achievements of this paper are as follows:(1) The development of the visualization platform of digital water gird based on the integration of various technologies. The organization and storage of vast amounts of data,including spatial geographic, remote sensing and water conservancy business data was realized by means of databases and servers, and spatial data-digging, multi-source data fusion,and the processing technology of distributed data provided the basic data support for digital water gird. Then virtual reality and visualization simulation technology were applied to the construction of the visualization platform of digital water gird, based on the three-dimensional geographic information of World Wind, and on the combination of GIS with digital water grid.In the visualization platform of digital water gird, realistic 3D virtual environment was built to realize the 3D visualization and 3D real-time interactive operation of digital water grid.(2) The visualization of digital water grid of multi-source information fusion. Digital elevation model was combined with remote sensing image to construct 3D terrain model, and the 3D objects modeling using oblique photography and SketchUp provided a more realistic 3D visualization. Moreover, Yushu was taken as an example to illustrate the extraction method and process of digital water grid, and then the organization and processing of multi-source information obtained in Yushu region was realized by the designed visualization platform of digital water grid, which may rich the content of the three-dimensional display and enhance the show effect of 3D visualization of digital water.(3) Thematization service of water business management on the base of digital water gird.Combined with actual needs of Yushu, the visualization platform of digital water gird was developed, and taking the thought of thematization service as the guide, three thematization service function of Yushu were divided to the development and application of corresponding function, and thus to provide subject service. Three thematization service function of Yushu included the information service based on water resources survey; the emergency service of flood control and drought relief, and the regional service of water ecological civilization construction. Finally, functions, such as information integration display, simulation, spatial analysis were realized in the visualization platform of digital water gird. What achieved in this paper can provide a decision support for the water business management, has good application prospects and popularized value.
