Compared with traditional imaging techniques,the polarization imaging technology can obtain both the intensity imaging information and the polarization information of the detected object.The polarization information can be used to know the properties of the target,including the target constituent material,surface characteristics and structural characteristics.The use of the polarization characteristics of light to study the physical and chemical properties of the target object is an effective target detection means,and it is the development and complement of traditional intensity imaging.Polarization imaging detection technology can effectively identify the camouflage target in the natural environment.And it has a higher recognition rate in the mixed and disorderly context.With its unique advantages,polarization imaging technology is widely used in various fields.In this paper,a liquid crystal variable retarder is used as a phase delay device to set up a set of full-polarization imaging detection system.The main contents are as follows:1?The basic theory of polarization imaging detection is studied In this paper.Based on the theory of imaging detection,the polarized light detection component composed of two LCVRs and one polarizer is used to realize the fast and accurate detection of the incident light.The curve calibration of LCVR was carried out to ensure the accuracy of the obtained Stokes parameters.The design scheme is simple and the speed of image acquisition Fast,convenient software system design and program preparation.2?The non-singular system matrix of the system was obtained by calibrating the system by E-P calibration.Then the matrix was written into the image processing program of the software system.The polarization state of the incident light could be obtained by calculation.In order to verify the accuracy of the system,polarized imaging detection system was experimentally validated with a set of incident light that were known polarization states.The results show that the error of the measured value of Stokes parameters were small.It has proved that the system has good accuracy.3?Using the calibrated system to collect images.We got the images of the Stokes parameter and the polarization characteristic parameters(polarization angle and polarization degree)of the target scene by calculated the images that has been initially processed.The image was processed by the system after the calibration.The intensity image and the polarization degree image were fused by wavelet transform.The results of the experiment show that,compared with the intensity imaging,the polarization imaging can highlight the outline edge and the detail information of the object.Meanwhile,in the rain,fog and snow,polarization information could be better preserved.Therefore,polarization imaging is more advantageous in rain,fog and snow weather than intensity imaging.
