With the development of information science, the degree of intelligence of equipment for the large ship is continuously enhanced. Moreover, local area network is being widely used for ships. Note that it is independently implemented for current communication, platform (for oil, machine, and electricity) networks of the ship, and warfare systems to meet the need for data, video, and voice transmission. Owing to such independence of network structures, the cost of installation, management, and maintenance is increased. Therefore, it becomes critical to develop a new integrated services network for integration of information transmission. In this paper, we first introduce the requirement of design for network integration of a type of amphibious landing ship. Furthermore, the composition and function of the platform and communication network is deeply discussed, respectively. Using these existing results, we investigate the critical technology for ship network integration, such as virtual local area network (VLAN), virtual private network (VPN), and traffic control. To overcome the drawback of the current architecture of ship networks, we propose a novel, open, and hierarchical integration structure based on a combination of VPN and VLAN.The proposed structure split the network according to different functions by VLAN,and manage the resource for each sub-network by VPN. It can be found that the proposed structure not only satisfies the independence of the three networks, but also efficiently control the network resource. Furthermore, it also meets the requirements that all sub-networks of ships should access core network switches by the dual redundant method. As shown from the results, the proposed has the advantage of flexible topology and high service quality. In addition, we develop a new MPLS traffic control method, which can be used to solve the problem of load imbalance of multi-source multi-sink (MSMS). The proposed method can not only maximize the global flow, but also obtain more balance flow than conventional methods. The results of simulations demonstrate that the proposed method can greatly solve the problem of load imbalance of core switch nodes for the integration of the three networks. Finally,we simulate the proposed system by using VRNET. In the simulation, the number of bits and packages, throughput, and point to point (P2P) time delay is taken into account. The results of simulations demonstrate that the proposed design can greatly integrate the service network, and satisfy the performance requirement.
