After the ministry of industry and information issued "LTE/Fourth generation digital cellular mobile communication services" business license to three largest communication group companies, LTE come to commercial service in China, three telecommunication operators put a great effort into the LTE network deployment, LTE has gone deep into our life, at the same time, Many companies also put great efforts to develop the high cost performance LTE mobile phones. The popularity of LTE brings new requirements and opportunities, research and design of LTE signal source can provide a good solution for some new requirements of LTE, LTE signal source can provide part function of a base station and be provided to LTE related R&D manufacturer to use,LTE signal source has a wider range of applications.LTE signal source is an independent project of development process from base station T3300 development board, LTE signal source project includes design and implementation of LTE client and network side of the base station Uu interface protocol stack, it provides a signal source function. This paper mainly focus on the design and implementation of LTE signal source from the view of the signaling which is beared on the LTE signal source client and protocol stack.First of all, through the analysis of the demand of LTE signal source project, we design the system architecture from the perspective of the physical and logical structure, and then introduce the development environment which includes the software development language and operating environment and hardware environment of board development base station T3300 and operation process. Then we design and implement LTE signal source client and signaling from the point of functions,which mainly consists five big modules, and design high-level signaling throughout the core of LTE signal source. Subsequently we introduce the communication between base station client and development board,firstly we explain the running environment and build the environment and tools, and then according to the agent function and the thread the agent is divided into receiving module, sending module and the heart beat module three module, then we realize the signaling process which takes the agent as connection point and design the interface specification among three modules. Finally we realize the RRC protocol which is associated with high-level signaling, According to 3GPP TS36.331 protocol specification and LTE signal source project requirements, we simplify the protocol and implement the LTE function of the signal source, which includes paging information and system information for ASN. 1 PER encoding, and then we design the interface between layer 3 and layer 2. Finally we focus on function test,performance test and compatibility test for LTE signal source, and summarize the paper and make some improvements.
