The development of modern mobile communication has mainly walked through two generation. The first generation of mobile communication (1G) is cellular mobile communication based on analog signal, and it mainly provides voice service. The second generation of mobile communication (2G) is based on digital signal and it can provide low speed of digital service. However, the digital and multimedia communication developed quickly with the rapid progress of network and it demand for a high level of mobile communication which is what we called the third generation of mobile communication (3G). The 3G is the one that can provide us with much more kinds of multimedia service, spread over any corner of the earth without any miss, travel globally, and do any kind of communication in any time and any place. Because of its many advantages, all the communication corporations and communication device provider in the world had showed their great interest in it. They had already spent a great deal on carrying out the research and development of 3G and wish to earn a share from the large market. It is without saying of the extensive competition in China as the biggest telecommunication market in the world.UCTH is a high-tech company who is devoted to the research and development of 3G radio base station and had already brought out many versions of NodeB System. G-Prime NodeB is one of them. This paper mainly describes the design and development of the Supervisal Application (SVAP) of G-Prime NodeB system. SVAP, as the housekeeper of G-Prime NodeB system, provide the service of supervisal, control and maintenance of the base station. SVAP is an embedded application and it fulfills its function with the corporation of outer application such as OMC (Operation Maintenance Center), which is located at Core Network and LMT (Local Maintenance Terminal), which is by the side of base station. SVAP provides interfaces for OMC and LMT. We can supervise, control and maintain the whole base station either by OMC remotely and by LMT locally.SVAP will be described from five aspects in this paper. Firstly, we will introduce the development background of G-Prime NodeB system and the basic principle of mobile communication system. Here we introduce the theory and framework of GSM, GPRS and WCDMA and the difference among them. Secondly, we will relate the composition, and framework of G-Prime NodeB, which is the base of SVAP. Thirdly, we will relate the general design of SVAP. Immediately after that, we described the design of SVAP software platform. Lastly, we delivered a conclusion of this paper.
