Individual soldier radio(ISR)network technology plays a significant role in the information warfare,which becomes a research emphasis in the military communication around the world.For great improvement on cooperative combat capability and command efficiency in the battlefield environment,multi-hop wireless self-organizing network can be formed by multiple ISRs with integrated services.In nowadays,as an important part of “future soldier system”,ISR clears the obstacles among soldiers who can only communicate by gestures or shouting.Modern ISR network is able to provide integrated services,including voice and multimedia applications,which enhances the real-time perception of battlefield situation in modern war as well as meets the demand of tactical communication.This paper mainly researches on the efficient methods for supporting integrated services by ISR.At the network layer,considering the characteristics of centerless,self-organization,multi-hop routing,dynamic network topology,limited transmission bandwidth,and unidirectional channel of ISR networks,this paper proposes an improved regional routing protocol to meet the requirements on real-time for intra-area routing and on accuracy for inter-area routing,and to be in in favor of ISR providing integrated services.At the media access control(MAC)layer,for the purpose of guaranteeing efficient access and overall performance in ISR,different services require different access strategies to meet the needs of integrated services in ISR networks.OMNET++ software is adopted to test the performance of ISR networks.According to different delay requirements in services,this paper layouts two kinds of services,such as voice and short message,where short message has low real-time requirement and voice the opposite.The joint design through the overall services improves the support of integrated services by the whole network.The paper realizes the network by specification and description language(SDL)in practical ISR and carries out tests on network routing protocols and services under different circumstances.The practical testing results show that the proposed access strategies can be used to support the efficient transmission of integrated services in ISR networks.
