As a representative of novel laser, fiber laser is gradually used in laser processing,biotechnology, medicine, communication and other fields. Especially, in laser processing and communication fields, it becomes the most active laser devices. Its preferred mode and focusing spot, which make it have advantages of high roundness, small diameter and clear outline, and meet the complicated requirement of marking depth and precision.Firstly, in this paper, we discuss the basic theory of fiber laser, and analyze the advantages of using fiber lasers in laser processing. Through laser material, cavity resonator, and pumping source, we also describe the principle structure of common fiber laser. Analyzing the advantages of double-clad laser, we discuss some common pumped fiber laser sources and we conclude that multimode fiber cone melting pump technology is applicable to high-power fiber lasers.Secondly, a mathematical model for the scan system of marking machine is given. Thus geometric perspective good linear scan results can be obtained when the scan mirrors rotate less than 10°. In order to achieve fast and accurate marking requirements, compared with formula method, storage method and polynomial fitting method,we find out polynomial fitting method can obtain quick, precise marking effect, reducing the distortion rate from 4.32%to 0.25%. Experiment has verified the feasibility of polynomial fitting method. And combined with precise correction the deviation between ideal and actual marking, we can get the deviation controlled within 0.1mm.Finally, experimental analysis shows the different colors of aluminum material coating,laser output power, repetition rate and scanning speed, respectively, has different impact on marking result.This paper extends the research work of applications for fiber laser marking machine; it provides a theoretical and experimental basis for the field of laser processing technology.
