Human are always hungry for resource, especially in a rapid developing time of productivity. Higher energy consumption with the burden of population, the need for technology updating is always asking for more resource from human. The resource on land gradually can't meet the requirement of the developing technology. People will focus on the vast ocean. Before developing the ocean, the topography underwater should has been explored by some method. Multi-beam bathymetry sonar system seems to be the best choice now which can efficiently survey the sea.Some research has been done based on the existing signal acquisition system of FPGA and the processing module of DSP in this paper. Owing to the need of the Multi-beam bathymetry sonar system, the function of signal acquisition, storage, transmission, processing and uploading have been achieved in this paper. The main work done as follows:1. The scheme of software has been designed including the overall plan, the signal acquisition and storage scheme, the communication between several processing cores and also the transition scheme based on PCI. The new device is developed through the cslr which can support the new device C6748. The FPGA is also developed through the method combined with SOPC and the logic compiled by Verilog HDL.2. The signal acquisition and processing software has been developed which can realize the function of specific. First of all, the new DSP device, especially the peripheral, has been explored based on cslr. Then the high-speed transmission interface uPP, first introduced in DSP by TI, is also used in this software. The developed program will be packaged into Library to support future work. The development of the DSPLIB based on C674x kernel is also necessary for the whole system.Then, the Multi-channel signal acquisition scheme should be designed, and also the logic compiled by Verilog HDL will meet the function of signal acquisition. Some interface bus driver will be developed based on SOPC technology to meet the need of Nios II processor.Finally, the function of data transmission in multi-clock domain system will be achieved.3. The function of software, including signal acquisition, data-caching mechanism and PCI bus data transmission will be inspected. Finally, according to the Multi- beam bathymetry sonar signal acquisition and processing software, the system processing time is estimated.The characteristic of the software designed in this paper is that the function may be very complex; various processors will be used in this system. Developing new device will be extremely difficult and much work will be done in this paper.
