Limited battery capacity is a bottleneck in the development of mobile applications, aiming at the problem of energy consumption of smartphones, this paper mainly studies the measuring and estimating methods of energy consumption, helping users quickly understand where the energy goes, and providing effective energy control in the process of application development. This paper sums up the relevant researches about analysis on smartphone energy consumption as well as the measuring methods. On this basis, power monitor is determined as the method for our study, and HUAWEI Y518-T00 smartphone is chosen as the platform. We put forward two models from hardware level and software level. We also do further experiment on Lenovo A3910e70,Hongmi note2 and CoolpadB770S to test the generality of these two models. The first one is based on hardware components,by developing an Android application for benchmark test and the analyzing the data collected,we build an energy model of each component, adding them up constitutes the energy model of the whole smartphone. The second model is based on the functional execution trace,by synthesizing and mapping of application power curve and execution trace,we get the functional power. These functional power can later be used to estimate energy of functions, codes and applications. At last,we compare the two from many aspects. In terms of applicable scenario, the first model can be used to estimate the distribution of energy distribution on hardware level for users, the second model can be used to estimate and control the energy of application for software developing. What's more, the second model is superior to the first one in extra power consumption, computing rate and accuracy.
