Research On Children's Discovery Museum

At the end of the 19 th century,the concept of the "Children's Museum" was quietly rising in the United States,and the American Museums Association defined children's museums as the experiential museum which focus on children and initiating children's curiosity,learning initiative,meeting children's demands,and their interests through exhibitions and educational activities.In China,we have not paid enough attention on the creation and development of Children's Museums,especially on Children's Discovery Museums.The development of Children's Museums in China was started in 1996 and it has been more than 20 years.However,till now there are only two museums takes ‘Children's Museum' as their name,they are in Beijing and Shanghai.The exhibitions in these two Children's Museums were all based on the display of cultural relics(although after the re-build of Shanghai Children's Museum,it has been improved),but in general speaking there were only a few exhibitions for children to explore and participate in,that means China's Children's Museums' development were far away from Americans Children's Museums.The so-called Children's Discovery Museum emphasizes the idea of letting children "manipulated by themselves" and "explore by themselves",so that children can recognize and perceive the world through their discovery and experience as well as the new knowledge and skills,explore things by themselves will constantly inspire their imagination,creativity,etc.,and help children to develop independently thinking and solve problems by themselves.The main idea of Children's Discovery Museum is different from most of other Museums,the main difference is Children's Discovery Museum is children's world,all the exhibits in it could be touched,so that children are willingly to visit it,and would take to pay initiative visit to it.The reach object of this paper is the Children's Discovery Museum in China,and it's also the reach on Chinese discovery,interactivity museums,the reason why choice this topic is mainly because that in childhood,their brain's development is the fastest,they can also receive new knowledge every quickly.Childhood is the most important period during their life,especially in their motions,activities,language etc.However,China haven't paid much attention to Children's Discovery Museums,especially the exploration of children's museums.Although the professors in museology always highlight that the education function of museums is very important,they still paid less attentions on the development of Children's Discovery Museums.This article is mainly divided into six chapters: Chapter 1: Introduction,it's mainly about the purpose and significance of this paper,and also the research of children's museums at home and abroad,it mainly emphasized Chines museum community did not pay much attention on Children's Discovery Museums,and the object or reach on Children's Discovery Museums is very less.Chapter 2 is about the development of Chinese Children's Museum,at first is the brief introduction of the number of children's museums around the world and the situation,next from two angles,at home and abroad,to describe the development of Children's Museums;Chapter 3 is about the importance of building Children's Discovery Museums,mainly analysis the Children's Discovery Museums from its feature and effect,function and functions;Chapter 4 is the research on a case—Laoniu Children's Discovery Museum of Children's Centre;Chapter 5 is the problems and solutions on Chinese children's museums;Chapter 6 is the conclusion.The Children's growth and education is very important to China's future,to strengthen the development of Children's Museums is not only important to children's education,but also to made let children would like to visit museums.Hope this paper will made the professors pay more attestations on Children's Museums and would help the design,construction of Children's Museums,to made Children's' Museums become more successful in China.
