Research On The Application Of Historical And Cultural Symbols In The Construction Of City Image

The city is a huge complex that contains a lot of elements.We live in the city every day and it produces various interactions between people and city.However,with the development of society,the degree of urban modernization is increasing.The urban landscape has lost its unique personality.Therefore,the various cities are beginning to tap the connotation of the city and try to build their city images.For a city,there are a lot of elements can be used to build the image of the city,including natural scenery,diet,history and culture,special products and so on.This paper will select Handan as the research object,and try to analyze how this city uses the symbol of history and culture in the process of constructing city image.The paper is based on Saussure 's Signifier and Signified theory,and the connotation meaning and extension meaning of symbol of Roland Barthes.This paper discusses the application of Handan' s historical and cultural symbols in the process of urban image construction.For any sign there is a Signifier and a Signified,the Signifier refers to the objective nature of the object,and the Signified refers to the meaning and the function of the material.On this basis,Roland Barthes put forward the meaning and connotation of the symbol.For a city's historical and cultural symbols,its Signifier refers to the appearance and pattern of historical and cultural symbols.Signified refers to the history and meaning of the historical and cultural symbols.And through the further development and application of urban builders to construct the significance of these historical symbols that represent the city's image of the city.The analysis of the application of Handan's historical and cultural symbols reveals that Handan is currently applying the historical symbols through the protection and development of historical symbols,the remodeling and reconstruction of historical symbols,and the media,which makes Handan's city image into "Capital of country Zhao" "hometown of idiom " "historical and cultural city".Through the analysis of this phenomenon,the deep motives of the urban architects in the use of historical and cultural symbols to build the image of the city's includes the change of the consumption of goods into consumption of symbol the power of political demands and economic power.By using the theory of semiotics,this paper analyzes how Handan is using the historical symbols to construct the image of the city and the strategy of it.At the same time,it analyzes the deep-seated reasons of using the historical and cultural symbols to construct the city image.Finally,from the perspective of semiotics theory the author give the handout of construction of Handan's image.Urban builders should continue to improve the development and maintenance of historical and cultural resources in the process of urban image construction.And they should avoid commercialization,pay more attention to public.In addition,we should respect the historical facts and grasp the scale of urban image construction.
