Study On Management Of Grey Literature From Aspect Of Archival Science

With the development of economy and society,there is more and more grey literature from different of political departments,research institutions or schools and enterprises.And it is used to reflect condition,communicate information,guide work,make decision and so on.Different from public publications,grey literature is worth managing and using because it is informative,professional and has a high reference value.For political departments,grey literature is an important medium to convey thoughts,carry out policies among people,reflect people's voice and offer advice or suggestions to the government.For research institutions and schools,grey literature is the record of study process and the representation of study results.And it also has great reference value for the research in the future.For enterprises,grey literature reflects the development status and is an important basis on which to make development strategy.Besides,grey literature is a significant tool for disseminating enterprise culture and reinforcing the construction of an organization.At the same time,the concept of grey literature has a close relationship with archival science,publishing science,politics,management science and so on.So,it is full of subject value and academic significance to do the study of grey literature.In the thesis,the author adopts many research methods to make a complicated and systematic study about grey literature,such as documentary research method,field research method,network survey method,comparative research method and comprehensive analysis method.At the beginning of the thesis,the author makes a clear definition of grey literature,including its connotative meaning and extension.On this basis,the author makes a statistic analysis on the grey literature of think tanks.And the data is at hand or from network survey.Then,the author describes the management process of grey literature,using the management process of archives for reference.At the end of it,the author also come up with the deficiency of the thesis.What is more,the author expresses her understanding and thoughts about the study and management of grey literature in the future.Chapter 1 introduces the research background,including social background and academic background.The author also makes an introduction of the study status in this part.Based on this,the author puts out the academic and practical significance and illuminate the research approach,research method and innovation points of the thesis.Chapter 2 introduces the awareness and understanding of gery literature in different subjects and makes a specific definition and explanation about it.Besides,the author compares grey literature with publications,internal informative publications,official documents and archives so as to explore the connotative meaning and extension of grey literature.Moreover,the author discusses and analyzes the types,features and values of grey literature.Chapter 3 makes a statistic analysis on the grey literature about forms and quantity from the aspect of think tanks.The data in this part is from CTTI database,network survey and the information at hand.Chapter 4 describes the management process of grey literature,using the management process of archives for reference,including the collection,identification,arrangement,preservation and utilization,five steps in total.Chapter 5 is the last part of the thesis.The author comes up with the deficiency of the thesis.Besides,the author also expresses her understanding and thoughts about the study and management of grey literature in the future.
