Due to the advantages of simple structure,no distance blind spots,high resolution,low power and strong anti-clutter,FMCW radar has broad application prospects in the field of precision-guided weapons systems,traffic control and detection,vehicle collision avoidance system,floor measurement and the liquid surface height measurements recently.Through the research and analysis on FMCW radar ranging theory and difference-frequency signal,the FMCW radar system is designed and implemented.Firstly,specifies the operating principles of FMCW radar is described in detail,and the theory of the measurement of the FMCW radar is described and analyzed in detail.With the support of existing theories,the design and implementation of a small radar experimental system using Mini-circuits RF devices,and the characteristics and parameters of the RF devices are introduced in detail.After conducting a complete analysis on radar's echo power spectrum,this passage discusses the factors affecting the ranging accuracy of FMCW radar systematically and randomly.From the perspective of frequency spectrum,the spectrum estimation algorithm which can improve the ranging precision of FMCW radar is put forward,and the related experiment is carried out.With the usage of self-designed experimental FMCW radar system,this passage has conducted the two experiments of Doppler frequency shift velocity measurement and linear frequency modulate ranging,conducting data processing on radar signals with MATLAB software and receiving information of objective distance and speed by analyzing difference frequency signals' time domain and frequency domain.Lastly,it has made a detailed description on the involving experiments from the aspects of previous preparation,data collection during experiment process,results,relevant codes,and so on.Experiment tests show that the experiment platform has the characteristics of low cost,small size,simple and practical,which can be applied to FMCW radar echo signal acquisition,and has important significance for verification of FMCW signal processing algorithms.
