Due to the advantages of simple structure, no distance blind spots, high resolution, lowpower and strong anti-clutter,FMCW(Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) radar hasbroad application prospects in the field of precision-guided weapons systems, traffic controland detection, vehicle collision avoidance system, floor measurement and the liquid surfaceheight measurements recently. Through the study and analysis on FMCW radar rangingtheory and difference-frequency signal,The FMCW radar ranging system is realized bymeans of radar sensors IVS-163which is produced by Germany Innosent company.Firstly, the working principle of the FMCW radar and application is given, detailedelaboration and study on the ranging theory of FMCW radar modulated by triangular waveare carried out, a difference frequency signal processing circuit by means of IVS-163radartransceiver is designed. Secondly, against the disadvantages of the method using hardware toanalyze distance spectrum, difference-frequency signals’ characteristics of static and dynamictarget is researched. in order to achieve the target ranging, an energy centrobaric method andan Sweep frequency-Window added FFT-MTI signal processing algorithms is proposed. Finally, a PC software system based on LabView by using the MP424USB data acquisitioncard is developed. It can carry out the real-time collection and analysis ofdifference-frequency signal, and extract target distance information. The system ranging rangeis1~30m, ranging accuracy is±5cm, and achieved the expected goals.Through the overall test and experiment on FMCW radar ranging system, Its results andranging accuracy are analyzed in the paper, and the work of the next step to be studied onLinear FMCW radar ranging system is pointed out.
