With the quickly development of foundation build of our country, modern intelligent traffic management becomes the pressing task, and velocity radar is one of the key equipment. Doppler speed measurement theory is applied to the Velocity radar and measure the speed through frequency shift of moving object Traditional velocity radar is designed with analog filter or single chip microprocessor, but it doesn't meet the requirement for its low measurement precision and slow process speed ,which can't meet the requirement of modern intelligent traffic managementVelocity radar signal processing system generally applies power spectrum estimation technique. In this paper, cycle spectrum of graph technique of classical spectrum estimation and autocorrelation arithmetic are analyzed, and Burg arithmetic of modern spectrum estimation, covariance and revised covariance arithmetic are further studied. Comparing the relative merits of estimation precision and arithmetic to the above arithmetic, the revised covariance arithmetic, which has better estimation precision, is selected.TMS320C54x is applied to accomplish the above arithmetic as the chief chip and the flash memory is used to accomplish the arithmetic more quickly in the design of digital signal processing system of velocity radar. As the communication between DSP and peripheral equipment immolate the time of program run as the cost, AT89C51 single chip is applied to control the mutual interface of the key display and serial communication, which reduce the operation time in the velocity measurement process. An effective and low cost scheme is constructed in the design based on the enhancement of measure precision and measure speed of velocity radar. The circuit of Gann devise-mixer diode in the same wave-guide cavity is used in the wave part and thus miniaturization realization is easy to accomplish in the design of velocity radar.
