Soccer is a sport with full of strength,competition and confrontation.It is also represented the traditional sense of the male sport,meanwhile,female football has been marginalized.However,because of the Chinese women's football team have made great achievements in the world,which has leading the women's World Cup competition become gradually concerned around the Chinese public.This phenomenon also brings women's football athletes into the vision of Chinese mass media.Nevertheless,women's football athletes in the mass media show the difference from the social stereotypes of female athletes,they have femininity,in line with the traditional Chinese women's aesthetic.Despite that,the female player's image becomes a commercial product.Although,the sports news,which is ingratiate with gender traits and commercial culture attracts lots of attention for the media company.However,such behavior makes women athletes increasingly appear marginalized in sports reports and become soft news subjects.This phenomenon is not benefit to the development of women's sports,and no contribution to the overall development of sports.This paper takes the Seventh women's soccer World Cup in 2015 as an example,and selects four newspapers with different commercialization levels as the source of research data,in order to investigate the characteristics of women football athletes.This study selected the newspapers and magazines with relevant period,that is,June 7,2015 to July 6,2015."China Sports Daily" "Football News" "Sports Weekly" "Oriental Sports Daily" these four published sports newspapers will use as the relevant data to analysis the World Cup women football player image during 2015 women's soccer World Cup.Through the analysis,this research paper found compared with previous years' media report,this year's media report shows less report of heroic story,but more focus on the visualized female sports player's characteristics.The report topic such as "female hero" are replaced by some topic like beautiful,lovely "girl next door" during this Women's soccer World Cup.To be more specific,the higher commercialized newspapers are more likely to focus on the beauty of female athletes,and put them into the real-life story and emphasis their appearance.All such changes of report make the sports news become more entertaining than professionalism.Behind this phenomenon,is a profound social and cultural reasons.Also,the sports culture,gender culture and consumer culture all contributed to this result.In the tradition,women have been always excluded from the professional sports.Although,in the present age,women are trying to protect their rights through some movements,in order to join the professional sports.However,even today,women in the field of sports are still marginalized.This is because the character of athletes,such as strong and aggressive,does not conform to the traditional femininity imagination.This research considers such strong and aggressive character of woman may bring challenges to male authority,also giving male a great sense of oppression and a sense of crisis.Therefore,most men are instinctively unlike to see women with athlete characteristics.In the meantime,the commercialized media who follow the interests and profits are willing to create a "female myth" which unconsciously meet the traditional character of women,in order to attract the main audiences.Such paradigm news may affect the self-identity of female athletes,so that they intentionally or unintentionally to adopt themselves to such example,use their appearance to against the true character of female athletes,and finally become public will.
