Nowadays the communication system of all countries in the world are tending to the digitalized telecommunication network,intelligence and integration.As telecommunication network can achieve the connection throughout the whole process and network,the existing telecommunication network can't be renewed synchronously,so it's required to conduct renovation for the existing operation network.Optical fiber access network becomes the main access form of the current telecommunication network,so the renovation of “replacing copper cable with optical fiber” is gradually conducted in our city.First of all,this paper summarizes the access network technology and discusses the technology overview,composition,characteristics and structure,as well as development trend.Second,this paper deeply studies the access technology of optical fiber,and focuses on the technology of PON-Passive Optical Network and FTTx(Fiber To The x)which is the mainly applied technology at present.Subsequently,this paper studies the solution for renovation of “replacing copper cable with optical fiber”.Previously,the major operators generally applied copper twisted pair network for the first kilometer access network.To meet the increasing demand for bandwidth and fulfill optical fiber access,it's necessary to reform the existing copper cable access network,known as the renovation project of “replacing copper cable with optical fiber”.Compared to conventional copper cable signal transmission,optical fiber has great advantage,as its transmission speed is visibly higher than copper cable,while its cost is lower than copper cable,which reduces the investment cost of operator.Based on the study of access network technology,this paper designs a solution for renovation of “replacing copper cable with optical fiber” and applies the PON technology in the communication access network project of “replacing copper cable with optical fiber”in Tianjin.In the case of FTTH optical fiber project in a newly built community,the EPON technology is applied to connect all users of the community to EPON network system by Passive Optical Network.The paper designs relative implementation plan,sets up the installation and performs system test.According to user's demand,the new backbone is formed by 4 12-core backbone lines and 1 24-core line,5 new optical cable distributing area,and 1402 new distribution optical cables in order to meet the demand of community coverage.Devices used in this paper,from local OLT to ONU in terminal user house,are the commonly used devices at present.They are suitable for most optical fiber access network project,so the solution is of great promotion and application meaning.The paper aims to prove the extensiveness of optical fiber access telecommunication network technology application with an actual case of fiber access telecommunication network.Such technology can not only be used in newly built community,but also in existing communities,while optical fiber network renovation becomes a development trend to meet the demand of economic development in Tianjin and ambitious new-generation broadband network development.
