The thesis,beginning with relevant definitions and development history of social media,explains that in its communication process,social media has demonstrated that vivid features such as the communicator is the receiver,fragmentation of information,interpersonal communication and mass communication are highly in tune with each other.Classic examples of the combination of museums and social media,e.g.Weibo,Wechat,social Q&A sites and third-party review sites are then analyzed and generalized for advantages and drawbacks of each form.The thesis considers that the combination of museums and social media is a sensible choice for museums in the era of social media,indicating that museums reasonably expect to get rid of its development bottleneck with the help of social media.In the latter chapters,the thesis puts forward tentative plans and suggestions for the future combined development of museums and social media.Suggestions are as follows:elaborate strategies of social media should be formulated,organizational features of museums should be highlighted in its operation process and rational attitude should be kept when we apply new technologies.Since museums are bursting with vitality and the Internet technology is attaining rapid advancement,there is a bright future of the combined development of museums and social media.
