Research On The Issue Of The Eastern Times And Shanghai Social Prospect

In 1920s and 1930s, Shanghai has become an open and diverse metropolis, with amusements and lights on nights after nights. Since the middle of 19th century, for the superior geographical conditions and irreplaceable geographical advantage, Shanghai has become the forefront of dialogue between the western powers and the Qing government. It became the first to go on the world stage with the gesture of a boomtown.The rise of economy and political relaxation made Shanghai not only a cultural center,but also a news center in China. Then fastly it became a trendy city, and presented unprecedented prosperity. Because of the boom, Shanghai residents were also enjoying the colorful city life.Wanting to know about Shanghai city life in 1920s and 1930s, the press is the best carrier. In the long river of Journalism History, Shanghai newspaper products are undoubtedly excellent representatives. They have the most complete category and the widest spread. Therefore, the research of Shanghai press has important reference value to learn about Shanghai Social History of Development, History of Shanghai Journalism and History of Chinese Journalism .This paper selects a special issue Eastern Times, which has a long history, rich and stable content as a sample to explore the relationship between Eastern Times and Shanghai society.
