A Research On Newsletter Of Eastern Times

Eastern Times is one of the three major newspapers in old Shanghai with Shun pao and Xin Wan pao, known for its business innovation. Newsletter is one of these innovations. Eastern Times creates the Special Newsletter, and Huang Yuansheng,Shao Piaoping, Xu Lingxiao had to write for Beijing Special Newsletter, created a terrific splash in the popular press. The dissertation using the historical text analytical method, takes Eastern Times as the research object, according to the “Documentary Newsletter”(1904-1911), the“Newsletter Column”(1912-1920), and “Diversified Newsletter”(1921-1939) in three different historical periods, to research on the newsletter of Eastern Times, analyze the newsletter’s historical background,development and change, types and features. The research results show that, the newsletter of Eastern Times not only is one of the important performance in its news business innovation, is a milestone in the history of China’s press and communications style. Its newsletter style reforms, followed by various newspapers,has a certain paradigm significance and promoting the modernization of Chinese journalism.
