| Newspapers and periodicals are the leads of new media in LQD-ERC(the late Qing Dynasty and the Early Republic of China).They are also the best way of communication in contemporary though,culture and arts.In recent years,the study on newspapers and periodicals in LQD-ERC has become a "Famous Discipline" in literature and arts circles.However,compared with other literary journals,the study of drama journals in this period is relatively backward.Up to now,there has not been a monograph on the study of drama journals.Moreover,the study of drama journals in LQD-ERC is rarer.This paper aims at drama periodicals in LQD-ERC,and studies in five main aspects.Firstly,the background of the birth of the periodicals in LQD-ERC is introduced.The historical needs and conditions of the birth,the founder,and the style of drama periodicals are discussed.The special relationship between the founder and the style is analysed.The feather of “Nature of the fan” of the drama periodicals in LQD-ERC is revealed.Secondly,the first drama periodical “20th Century Stage” is discussed,including the conditions of the birth of the drama periodicals,the relationship between “20th Century Stage” and “Tongren Art Society”,and the many innovations and a deficiency of “20th Century Stage”.Thirdly,the first developing boom of drama periodical in the history is described,such as the issue characteristics of drama periodicals during the period of “Jiayin Zhongxing”,the individual feathers of several representative periodicals this period,the value and significance of these drama periodicals.Fourthly,the thought germination of modern drama is represented.As a representative of modern drama thought,the contents and the academic value of the periodical “Haiku Gifted Magazine” are discussed shortly;the thought and construction of modern drama category theory of “Drama Lecture” by commentator Feng Shuluan is analyzed;the ontological drama research methods and drama aesthetic achievements of his “Xiao Hongxuan Talk” is depicted also;and the important roles of Feng Shuluan’s research in the construction of modern Chinese drama are demonstrated briefly.Finally,the drama periodicals in “New Cultural Movement” period are narrated.The overall situation of the periodicals in this period is discussed generally;the special issue on drama of “New Youth” is researched carefully,including the publication history of “New Youth”,the theoretical scheme of drama improvement by Hu Shi,and the argument between old and new school caused by this scheme;then the preservation awareness and literature value of “Chun Liu” original documents is mentioned;the drama theoretical value of Qi Ruoshan is explained and the artistic growth process,artistic achievement and historical influence of Mei Lanfang are expounded.In conclusion,the thought of “Drama improvement” goes throughout the period of LQD-ERC.The "drama improvement" slogan proposed by “20th Century Stage” was not effectively implemented,but it took the first step in the improvement of drama.After that,more and more experience was accumulated through sevral drama periodicals,such as “Song Crescent”,“Theater Monthly”,“New Drama Magazine”,“Drama Series”,“Haiku Magazine” and so on.Until the theoretical breakthrough of the special issue on drama of “New Youth” made a general goal of improvement of old drama and creation of new drama.And then two ways were explored by "Chun Liu" practice,which are the existing materials collection and new talents cultivation.“New Culture Movement” is a watershed in the history of Chinese drama periodicals.It drew a successful conclusion to the exploration for decades of “Drama improvement",and also pointed out a new road to the future development of Chinses drama.Therefore,this paper concludes that the drama periodicals in LQD-ERC have built the practical foundation and theoretical preparation for the drama prosperity in 20 th century.Up to now,we clarified the future of Chinese drama ecological pattern theoretically,that is,becoming from the unique thriving of opera to blooming both of opera and new drama. |
