Selected bibliography is a special type of bibliography organized from the perspective of the organizer's motivation. It refers to the book list for recommending rudimentary books for readers. The traditional bibliography has different terms for this type of book list, without a standard definition.Therefore , the first chapter is devoted to the analysis and definition from the angle of word use in articles and the development of bibliography. Then we define it as follows: It is a particular kind of selected bibliography in a certain range, with an orientation torwards a particular group of readers. It introduces fundamental books to a special field of learning, and offers a guide on the method of reading. It can be divided into three subtypes: the bibliography of persuading people to learn, the bibliography of reading in a particular field, and the bibliography of popular editions.At the turn of Qing Dynasty to Republic of China, the whole society was suffering unrest, and the Western learning was finding its way into China. In the fierce cultural conflict, to meet with the needs of political propaganda and reframe the modern learning, the selected bibliography became prosperous, with the theme of the time being, remedying the nation by preserving , and initiating the national learning.Chapter Two analyzes the list of Chinese Learning and the prosperity of the list of Western Learning, faking representative works, for example, as well as the professional book lists.In Chapter Three, we'll analyze the upsurge of the list of Chinese Learning during the early years of the Republic of China, and the prosperity of the professional reading lists, mainly the early developmentof the lists of Marxism, public education, and Children reading.Finally, we summarized the characteristics of the selected bibliography from the last period of Qing Dynasty to the early period of Republic of China, pointing out the influence of it on Chinese ideology and culture , as well as the bibliography.
