The development of virtual experiment system for automotive engine failure has a good impact on vocational education.It can provide a excellent practice platform and have very high application promotion values.In this paper,it focuses mainly on the understanding,troubleshooting and maintenance of failure from a key part of the automobile,engine in the automotive vocational technology education.the development of virtual experiment system for failure is carried out so as to increase students' skills for failure diagnosis in the short term during automotive vocational education and provide a good ability of cognition when they move into the post later.Firstly,at present the virtual experiment system for automotive engine failure is still under the development stage.Although many researchers and scholars make some studies on this at present,most of them just do basic theoretical research,which lack a certain guidance for practical operation so it needs further research.In this paper,by comparing the application of virtual test technology on the engine,the overall design framework of the virtual experiment system of automobile engine fault is put forward,After the analysis on the overall systematic construction,T hrough the study of VRML,CREO and other software,a simulation development platform were built based on JAVA language and a three-dimensional engine model based on T oyota Corolla.According to the specific position of the 3D model,different fault patterns,fault diagnosis methods and methods of fault maintenance are set up on the simulation platform.T he aim which is the same as that of practical training is achieved by setting failure of each engine part and doing failure diagnosis,troubleshooting and maintenance.At the same time,this training software can real-timely update the type of engine failure so as to continuously update diagnosis system.T hen,the edition of failure codes,setting,troubleshooting and diagnosis of failure are introduced.Finally,it takes the failure diagnosis of mass air flow meter and throttle body as an example to give detailed illustrations.The virtual experiment system for automotive engine failure is a virtual reality system which is designed based on the field of engine failure dia gnosis.It is different from the traditional educational pattern where there is an obvious inconsistency between teachers and students.It is convenient for this virtual system to arise the enthusiasm of students.And the system achieves the purpose of pra ctical training which is hard to realize due to lack of training venues and funds under the traditional educational pattern.
