Research On Chinese Personal Name Authority File Sharing And Semantic Description

Name authority file is a collection of name authority records,the control and management of name authority files is a one of the foundations of authority control work.While many libraries in China have built name authority databases,the construction at present is scattered.Due to lack of unified standard to manage the authority name resources,these resources characterized by strong heterogeneity and poor sharing.As important characteristic resources,the standardized construction and management of name authority files can efficiently improve the quality of bibliographic data,and the sharing would be significant for library resource to achieve its value in a broader scope.With the development of semantic web,the forms that information resources take on the internet have shifted dramatically.Semantic web provides an intelligent way of data processing to enable machine recognize and understand data,which solve the problem of heterogeneity from the semantic level.Linked data,a lightweight way to achieve semantic web,is characterized by using URIs as identifiers for resource,using RDF triple to describe resource and building stable RDF links among resource.It can ensure the uniqueness of information resources as well as interoperation among them within and across systems,by which effectively implement the resource integration and sharing.In this thesis,we studied the sharing issue of Chinese name authority files in semantic web environment,illustrating with an example of personal name authority files.The study made progress from the following respects:(1)Analyzed problems during the process of name authority files construction such as catalog rules and description formats used in building authority records are variant,sources of entities information are multifarious,lacking of detailed rules about how to use name additional information,etc.To address these problems,we proposed a centralized model to collect and process contributed data from participates,preliminarily integrated domestic name authority databases.(2)On the basis of integration of domestic name authority databases,we did research on sharing between Chinese name authority files and virtual international authority file.According to the results of matching experiments between the two databases,we evaluated the efficiency of matching and tabled some proposals aimed at prepare good-quality Chinese name authority files for sharing.(3)According to the four principles and publish process of linked data,we took personal name authority records of NLC as example and published them as linked data,built RDF links among data to overcome heterogeneous barriers and interoperate across systems,to further realize data sharing within library system and resources external resource discovery.
