Libraries, as traditional knowledge providers, with the rapid development of the Internet, implemented digital revolution. In the process of vigorously developing digital library, libraries make digital description, systematic storage and network services for its resources. Since libraries usually use different hardware platforms, operating systems, communication protocols, database systems and data description standards, and implement more independent maintenance and management of library resources. As a result a large number of distributed heterogeneous data are made. In order to integrate these scattered data with user-friendly query and save users’time, digital library community has taken some measures, such as integrating resources based on OPAC, cross-database search system, navigation and links. However these measures can only solve the heterogeneous structure problems, the semantic heterogeneity problems cannot be resolved. In addition the main resource integration aims at the same knowledge unit (literature of resources), the integration between the different knowledge units (literature, knowledge of organizational resources, etc.) cannot be interrelated, so the degree of integration is still not satisfactory. In the Web3.0era, the emergence and development of the Semantic Web technology changed the Web as well as a variety of Web-based applications, and also had a huge impact on the field of library. Describing the library metadata semantically with Semantic Web technologies such as Ontology, SKOS, is able to solve the semantic heterogeneity problem in the integration of resources, but also failed to provide broader and deeper of integration of resources. The Linked Data on the basis of the Semantic Web, releases and connects data with URI identifies and RDF format. It identifies each resource uniquely with naming all the resources in HTTP URIs to ensure the universal access to resources. The technical characteristics of the linked data make it easier apply to the integration of resources to achieve a seamless link between the resources and interoperability. According to the application of linked data in libraries, most libraries publish library data as a form of linked data, which could not take advantage of the characteristics of the linked data, neither enhance relation between digital resources, integration of resources between the different knowledge units, nor deeply explore applications based on the linked data, such as browsing or query. This study aims to propose a semantic integration method based on linked data to integrate digital resources at libraries. The gist of the method is to semantically convert and integrate metadata based on the metadata ontology, create semantic relation between the library literature resources and other resources, and publish the library linked data to Web, in order to achieve:(1) semantically integrating and interoperating the different types and formats of metadata;(2) seamlessly linking the different knowledge unit resources and combining the various resources to form a unified integrity. This research describes the basic technologies of the Semantic Web, focusing on ontology and linked data applied in libraries, and reviews the status and defects in integration of library resources, and analyses the semantic integration method based on ontology and linked data to solve semantic heterogeneity problem, and proposes a framework of semantically integrating library digital resources based on linked data with a detailed analysis of how to achieve such integration, then implements the method from three levels, including semantic integration based on the ontology, semantic integration based on linked data and application based on linked data; finally, the actual comparison with other literature resource query system (the CALIS OPAC, the CNKI database) shows that integration of digital resources at libraries using linked data has more advantages. The innovation of this study lies in semantic integration between literature resources and other type resources based on linked data, making it possible that library resources become a unified integrity.
