As the development of the information-based wars, the integrated joint operations have become a trend of modern wars. To solve the problems of interoperability during joint wars, a new technology called SDR(Software Defined Radio) has been proposed. As we all know, handsets have become an integral part of future information-based wars. However, the demands of low-power consumption?miniaturization and safety are the existing problems which need to be solved during the development. Consider ing all the above requirements, we use SB3500, which is a domestic multi- core and multi-threading digital signal processor, in our SDR handsets design.Firstly, this paper researchs the parallel process architectures in SDR domain. According to SDR handset's constriction of low-power consumption, miniaturization and safety, we propose the requirements which these architectures need to meet. Based on the above analysis, we adopt SB3500, which is a domestic multi-core and multi- threading digital signal processor, in our SDR handsets design. After that, the paper analyzes the architecture of SB3500.Secondly, to design a SDR handsets hardware platform, four SDR hardware architecture models are analysed which include pipeling architecture model, bus architecture model, switch architecture model and computer with network architecture model. Then pipeling architecture model is selected for SDR handsets exploitation and we implement a hardware system design based on SB3500.Finally, based on the hardware platform, this paper designs OFDM waveform software as a parallel design example. Then the author illustrates the detail design of the waveform software's baseband parallel algorithm and the interface between GPP and DSP. At the end of this part, we prove that SB3500 has a good future in SDR handset parallel waveform designing domain.
