With the rapid development of information technology, networks become more complexand large-scale, multi-core processors become the future Trends. Discrete event networksimulator adapt to large scale network has become an import research field and the multi-coremulti-threading technology is the main technology. In this thesis, the OpenMP is adopted tostudy the multi-core multi-threaded NS2 design and implementation.In this thesis, the author first introduces the hardware platform for multi-coremultithreading technology, multi-threaded and multi-process technology, and focuses on theOpenMP technology. Then analysis the structure and ideology of multi-core network simulatorin detail and the inadequacy of the simulator which are studied at present. This thesis furtheranalysis single-core simulator NS2 network simulator in depth, Including the architecture ofNS2, the splitting object model, the basic components, simulation mechanism and the eventgeneration and scheduling process, the scheduler architecture model of NS2, According to thescheduler architecture model to design and implement the multi-core multi-threading NS2 usingthe OpenMP .Finally, the thesis designs OTcl script to verify the multi-core multi-threading NS2 whichis designed and implemented, and then to test the performance of the model. It is showed fromthe results that the implemented communication network algorithm based on multi-core multithreadtechnology has accelerated the running time, and can be used for large-scale networksimulation.
