With the further application of the Internet of things technology in manufacturing industry, Chinese manufacturing industry ushered in the transformation and upgrading of change. In order to solve the heterogeneity and information isolated island problem of the manufacturing equipment, more and more manufacturing enterprises begin to search for universal, secure and reliable communication protocol for Internet of things. OPC UA as a new generation of communication framework, and gradually become the field of Internet of manufacturing things communications solutions. Not only that, OPC UA also put forward the concept of information model. Compared to the traditional OPC, OPC UA provide a more efficient and effective data semantics for manufacturing process.In this paper, the experimental platform of the Internet of manufacturing things in Huazhong University of Science and Technology is studied. Classification and information modeling of the key equipment involved in the Internet of manufacturing things, and the creation of the information model is converted into XML document. Then, according to the different devices in the information model, the data acquisition of all the underlying equipments is realized by using the traditional OPC technology, Socket communication technology and specific equipment communication interface. Finally through the secondary development by OPC UA server SDK, binding the collected data and server's address space. In order to demonstrate the application of OPC UA information modeling technology, this paper designs and develops a manufacturing execution system based on OPC UA for the platform of Internet of manufacturing things.In this paper, based on the traditional OPC technology, the OPC UA information modeling technology is successfully applied, which greatly speeds up the promotion of OPC UA, and saves the development resources. Through the test of OPC UA client, it is found that the information modeling technology is a good way to solve the problem of data interoperability. The manufacturing execution system based on OPC UA also successfully realized the transparency of the production process.
