As a modern observation and detection tools, Radar has a broad space for development in civil applications and military fields. It's a very large system, with the characteristics of high precision, high efficiency. In the grassroots radar units, A certain type of radar has higher failure rate, and because of various real conditions, and the timeliness and effectiveness of the radar fault maintenance are not met. If the failure is not accurate in time, it may be directly affect the radar daily combat readiness. For this purpose, the research and design of this type of radar fault diagnosis expert system is urgently needed.This paper embarks from the fault diagnosis expert system, introduces the research status and achievements, discusses the structure, working principle and fault analysis of radar system, for the real demand of this radar fault diagnosis, and combine with my actual work experience, then puts up the radar fault diagnosis expert system design and development methods.The general idea of this design is that: According to different functional modules of the system, using different software to develop independently,and then, we will Connect them together in the way of embedded software. The specific implementation scheme is: According to the demand of system,we divide the system into Man-machine interface function module, Expert system reasoning-diagnosis module, The system-database module, and The system-control module; makeing good use of the fault tree analysis method, Useing CLIPS6.3 to complete the development of two core of system(knowledge-base and inference-engine), last, saved the program as “.clp” format file independently,when the system is running,it will call the files directly; Useing Microsoft Office Access2000 as the the database of failure facts in knowledge-base(expert knowledge, fault symptoms) and rules in inference-engine; Using Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 to develop the man-machine interface friendly, the man-machine interface includs the main interface, login interface, subscriber management interface and reasoning interface, the system of main program is also developed by it. After complete each function module, the next research emphasis is to research the problem of the embedded application software, including the way of embedded connection between CLIPS with VC, Access and VC.At the end of the paper,use the "feed system fault" intermediate event to tests the expert system.Simulation result shows that the system can realize the fault diagnosis function, and the man-machine interface is friendly, the system is convenient and operate simplely. The research results of this paper provides a method of fault diagnosis expert system in military radar maintenance,radar equipment,it will has a realistic significance in radar units at the grass-roots level fault diagnosis problems.
