With the development of radar technology, there is an increasingly high demandfor on-line, rapid and accurate fault diagnosis of radar. Only if the faults of radar systemare diagnosed rapidly as soon as possible, its operational capability can be guaranteed.However, because the new radar system is complex, once faults occur, they are oftenconcurrent and interference each other, and make the diagnosis abnormally cumbersome.Only by means of new diagnosis methods and developing intelligent fault diagnosissupport system, we can achieve the purpose of rapid diagnosis. In view of this, thepaper launched the research on intelligent fault diagnosis technology of radar.The paper takes the home and abroad research status on intelligent radar faultdiagnosis and the actual situation of the project as a starting point, based on the in-depthstudy of hierarchical fault tree diagnosis and development methods of expert system,developed an intelligent radar fault diagnosis support system based on knowledge byusing Visual C++6.0and ACCESS. The system divides radar faults into subjective andobjective types, clears subjective failure preferentially, focus on objective faultdiagnosis, and established the corresponding knowledge base with different methods.For objective failure, integrating hierarchical method and fault tree diagnosis method,the paper improved the fault search efficiency and accuracy of fault location, andrealized the fast and intelligent diagnosis of radar faults. Based on the emerging andpractical polychromatic graphs sets theory, the paper researched a new knowledgestructure and storage method which is based on the theory, solved the problem ofinconvenience store and short of uniform mathematics model of fault tree, formedsystematic describing methods of knowledge base, and enabled intelligent knowledgereasoning. Diagnosis examples show that the methods are feasible and practical, andthey provide a new approach for quick intelligent diagnosis for the radar fault.Integrating with existing fault diagnosis knowledge of radar experts, the system canhelp radar technicians complete the fault diagnosis and troubleshooting work quicklyand accurately. The system has humanized human-computer interface and openness.With the growth of software running time, experience and knowledge in the knowledgebase will continue to improve, and the diagnosis accuracy will upgrade continuously.
