Optical switch matrix is one of the core components of large-scale optical switching system and is widely used in various optical networks. Single crystal silicon has many advantages including high heat transfer efficiency, low waveguide loss, mature production technology and easy integration. It also has high utilization in practical applications and has good prospects for development.In the study of silica based optical switch, optical switch in the preparation process has a certain degree of difficulty and not mature, so this article mainly use Optiwave software to optimize the design of coupler, optical switch and optical switch array is large. The main research contents include:(1)According to the characteristics of thermo optic switch and its parameters,we proposed optimization scheme.(2)Through Opti-BPM software optimization design the MZI switch unit and performance simulation of its optical path, we got the normalized power vs. the change of refractive index.(3)We designed of heating electrode structure according to the principle of phase shifter, and finished the performance simulation on heat conduction characteristics of the electrode using COMSOL software.(4) Based on the simulation of simulation of 2×2 optical switch, we built an 8×8 optical switch matrix module according to the network structure. Then we finished the performance simulation and analysis of the 2×2,4×4 MZI silica on silicon thermo-optic switch array using Opti-System, and measured the output power of each port.
