In the new century, rapid development of Chinese society has made remarkable achievements. But more and more serious urban problems need to be taken seriously. For example, space and resources have been overwhelmed because of rapid incremental development in cities, and the weakness of Chinese architectural culture ideology led to architectural value judgment imbalance. As well, lack of cross-cultural dialogue resulted in a shallow understanding of foreign architectural trends. In order to bring better development to chinese construction industry in the future, it is urgent to summarize related research and make some innovations.In all kinds of perspectives that reflecting the evolution process of architectural theory, design practice and physical space planning, architectural journal is a unique perspective to observe construction industry development. As a result, analysis of the architectural journals can review and combing process of social modernization. The first batch of Chinese architecture academic journals were born in the 1920 s and 1930 s. As a professional media, architecture professional journals play an intermediary role in the spread of architectural information, the professional papers published on which have discipline representative and authoritative, can be more intuitive and fully reflect architectural theory, architectural practice, building technology, architectural review and other professional fields.In this paper, the quantitative data of the architecture professional journals are selected as the breakthrough point to observe the evolution of the academic space production and development, taking "Architecture Journal" and "Architect" as the research object. Through statistical analysis on research focus, academic production and its spatial distribution of the two journals since the start publication to 2014, it will reveal the architectural discipline developments in this period of time, draw the macro trace outline disciplinary development, and have a restricted view on Chinese building modernization, so as to provide some useful reference for building research and subject development.The paper consists of five chapters. The first chapter describes the purpose of the research on the architectural journals and the significance of the research in three aspects of academic, social and method. At the same time, it summarizes the main achievements of the domestic related research, with a detailed description on selection basis, research contents and research methods of the study object. The second chapter is mainly for quantitative research. From the macro point of view, the paper reveals the evolution history of distribution situation and number of articles of two periodicals in the calendar year, with some quantitative analysis on the core author group and its citation. The third chapter and the fourth chapter are the key chapters of this paper, which are related to the statistics and analysis of the authors' institutions and key words. Among them, the third chapter explores the research situation of academia and industry through the categorization of the authors' institutions, institutions issuing information. Then, the change of academic production spatial distribution pattern will be observed through the statistical agencies and the title mentioned geographical information. The forth chapter collects the keywords and title effective words to do high-frequency words analysis, trying to present subject hot spots and their evolution process. The fifth chapter makes a summary and analysis of the trends of the development of the subject knowledge based on the previous chapters, and reflects on the enlightenment of the research on the discipline development in order to reveal the new requirements of the discipline development.
