Warehouse system is an indispensable part of social logistics,which plays significant roles on accelerating social material circulation,coordinating the overall logistics system and saving logistics cost.Although with rapid development in recent years, it still has many problems to be solved, which include poor warehouse layout, low utilization rate of facilities and equipment, unreasonable operator allocation and nonstandard operating timeliness. Therefore, it's necessary to further study warehouse system to enhance its performance and to reduce costs, which has extremely important practical significance on improving logistics specialized level.This dissertation focused on researching the raw material warehouse system of CS Company, which firstly analyzed its basic status, operating charactistics, design details of operating system and main operating processes, and then used Petri-Net theory to build its inbound and outbound process Petri-Net models respectively so as to simplify and to subdivide these operating processes, following by making simulation of these operating processes based on FlexSim software. After that, the outputs of inbound and outbound process simulation models were analyzed from five aspects of warehouse space utilization, material turnover speed, equipment utilization, operator allocation and operating timeliness, and bottlenecks affecting this system's performance werefound out. From the aspect of inbound operating process, collaborative ability between Quality Assurance Department and Raw Material Management Department was obviously weak, which caused raw material testing progress being very slow and ultimately led to poor inbound operating timeliness. Meanwhile, utilization rate of forklifts and the operating team responsible for transferring materials to other warehouse was quite low. And from the aspect of outbound operating process, it showed high utilization rate of the operating team responsible for sending materials to production line while low utilization rate of the operating team responsible for preparing materials before sending, which made materials sending operation beat can hardly keep up with materials preparing operation beat, and caused two teams' collaborative operating ability being not good. Besides, utilization rate of the team responsible for transferring unqualified materials to racks was also low. To effectively solve the problems, the improvement scheme was put forward by combing with system's actual situation. Optimal models' outputs showed that inbound and outbound operating timeliness reached or even exceed department's operating requirement, and material turnover speed increased obviously which made residence time of materials in the temporary storage areas almost keep within a half of department's operating time limitation. What's more, the overall utilization rate of equipment and operating teams kept between 70% and 90% that was reasonable. Besides, a lot of space resource in the warehouse was released for reusing. To sum up, this optimized scheme could help CS Company effectively improve the overall performance of raw material warehouse system and significantly decrease warehousing costs.
