With pixel unit and displayed by bitmap pictures, the dot matrix character is a typical computer font. It has the clearest performance on screen display of all the computer fonts, that's why dot matrix character is called the most suitable font for screen reading. For alphabetic languages, it's easy to finish a set of bitmap fonts. But the number of Chinese characters is huge, the writing style of Chinese characters is complex, so that the research and development of dot matrix Chinese character need to spend considerable time and manpower. At present, digital media has been popularized rapidly, and network technology is developed at full speed. The carrier of Chinese characters changes from books, magazines, newspapers and other traditional media, to a variety of electronic screen of mobile terminal gradually. Humanity has entered the era of electronic reading when people's reading habits will also change. At the same time, Chinese characters' on-screen display demonstration is far from satisfactory. It is necessary to explore the optimal design of the dot matrix Chinese characters for on-screen display.Reviewing the development of Chinese characters, summarizing characteristics and advantages and disadvantages of dot matrix Chinese characters, and listing the optimization solutions according to the experience of predecessors, the author tries to design in a new way with various auxiliary lines. Finally the author has finished more than 3800 Chinese characters and summarized the key points and difficulties in this process. Chinese characters do have not only long history but also changeable future. The form and structure of Chinese characters have changed several times already. Perhaps it is the dot matrix Chinese characters that will lead to one of the new trend of the Chinese characters' simplification someday.
