With the rapid development of science and technology, microwave technology is not only applied in communication, navigation, energy and other fields, but also has deep into human life. Various applications of microwave technology has led the development of microwave devices, at the same time, it has accordingly promoted the study of microwave devices characteristics parameters.The research of this thesis is the microwave high power automatic test system, its hardware circuit has been established by the core microwave automatic tuner with other test instruments, and its software test platform has been based on Test Center, which is designed by the 41 th research institute of Chinese Electronic Technology Group, developed by the thought of hierarchical development and the method of modular design. Finally, it can accomplish the measurement of the microwave devices parameters in the high power state, and can obtain the test results quickly.This paper firstly started from the basic principle, mainly presented the transmission line theory related to microwave technology, Smith circle diagram and impedance matching and so on, briefly introduced the working principle of the coaxial tuner- parallel single branch matching, especially introduced the communication between the tuner and computer. Then from the practical application aspect, roughly introduced the software development platform of the automatic test system-Test Center and building the hardware circuit of the test system, introduced in detail each functional module of the software, emphatically introduced two calibration methods for calibration module, compared the calculated value with the actual measured value, we can get the conclusion: the fast calibration using the fitting method has great advantages over the traditional calibration method, which greatly reduces the computation and the amount of time. In addition, this paper had studied the method of load traction test, made a comprehensive consideration from the stability conditions and the actual situation, so adopted the train of thought of the ergodic searching for the maximum power point, and received the power curve that we expected, so the method we adopted is proved to be feasible.
