Research And Application On The Method Of Deploying Virtual Media Streaming Server Of HLS Based On RED5

The HTTP Live Streaming(HLS) is an emerging streaming technology in recent years and will be the major streaming technology in the next generation, which has advantages in simplicity of deployment, immunization of firewall, and dynamical adaptive, etc. The RED5, an open-source streaming server based on Flash streaming service, is widely used in video streaming. Compared with the FMS, a commercial streaming service, the RED5 would save a great amount of budget and have bright prospects for development. The HLS is not supported by the RED5, which only supports RTMP protocol. Therefore, there is obvious significance in researching the HLS support of RED5, the construction of cluster for large-scale streaming service, and the transformation from RTMP to HLS for i OS devices.This paper is funded by the National Science and Technology Support Plan of Twelve-Five- Key Technologies of Chinese Language and Culture Propagation, aims at researching and developing the next generation cloud+client m-Learning system based on OpenStack and MOOC. This paper is organized as the following parts:(1) A design scheme for live streaming virtual server cluster prototype based on Open Stack framework is proposed, which uses RED5 to push HLS streaming.(2) The development of HLS transformation based on RED5 is specified according to the proposed design scheme, in which, the capture, compilation, encoding, decoding,transforming of RTMP stream to HLS stream is implemented.(3) The RED5 streaming virtual server cluster is deployed on the basis of OpenStack framework, and the application of which is implemented.On the base of previous research work and existing Sky Class remote live teaching system,the RED5 HLS streaming cluster based on Open Stack framework is tested in the case of RTMP live streaming, also including HLS live streaming in Android, i OS, PC devices.Finally, the proposed system is applied in the project of National Science and Technology Support Plan of "Twelve-Five" Chinese Language and Culture Propagation to provide live broadcast service.
