Traditional smart home system uses a wired connection, which requires the high competence and professional person to cable indoor environment, and build up the system for a long period of time with high cost, low flexibility and scalability. It is difficult to implement system operation, maintenance and upgrade.With the rapid development of the Internet of Things, smart home system has been redefined. The current smart home system basing on a wireless connection have no longer disadvantage of traditional wired connection. Thus, the smart home has advanced speedily in recent years, gradually increasing scale of the industry and has been commercially available. The smart home system has gradually promoted with people's awareness.An intelligent router compared with traditional router has a more convenient way to set up and manage the profile, and it also has a higher transferring speed. Traditional router is a static system that cannot be changed, while intelligent router is a dynamic system with the robust flexibility and it can dynamically add and remove functional software. Basing on intelligent router has such advantage, the vast majority of existing smart home systems use the intelligent router as the central control node and be remotely controlled by mobile phones or other terminals. However, developer must be proficient enough in Linux system architecture and network protocol for the implementation of intelligent router. Up to now, there is no unified system standard, so the compatibility of system firmware is poor. In addition, it is difficult and expensive to develop existing intelligent router.OpenWrt intelligent routing system as a highly modular Linux system, with powerful network components and scalability, supports x86, PowerPC, MIPS, ARM and other architectures of the processor and supports dynamic. In addition, it is easy to custom functionality for the system. OpenWrt system to custom routing firmware can be a noble solution to the problem of the original routing firmware. Therefore, the study of OpenWrt intelligent system has important engineering value.In this paper, the hardware platform of OpenWrt intelligent routing system is the MIPS architecture with high stability and low power consumption. The hardware boot program named as U-boot is cross-compiled with source code and migrated to hardware development platform, so that the system software calls to the underlying hardware interface. Establishing system developing environment, the source code version trunk is made use for system development. Then it add the file server, offline download and automatic synchronous motion monitoring image into the intelligent router firmware. It is special to customize the theme of LuCI and port wireless driver version RT2860v2 into the firmware. In conclusion, this article achieve full functionality and complete system testing based on the MIPS architecture hardware development platform.
