With the development of modern communication technology, especially in the popularization of the wireless communication technology, electronic communication system extends the development trend of high performance, low cost and integration. Moreover the voltage-controlled oscillator is the core of the wireless communication technology, the demand of the technical parameters of voltage-controlled oscillator is higher and higher in the electronic equipment. Traditional voltage-controlled oscillator has high power dissipation, narrow frequency range and parasitic parameters with integrated chip, which can not meet the technical index of modern wireless. In order to meet the needs of the changing society, we design the system with a high stability and wide range of frequency domain. Now the integrated voltage-controlled oscillator has been able to integration. Its performance is good, but compared to the CMOS integrated voltage-controlled oscillator, there are two obvious deficiency: firstly, the process cost is so high, if the entire system using such technology(such as gallium arsenide process, bipolar, Bi Cmos process), it will rise the product cost exponentially, the device can not achieve the mass production; Secondly, without using the CMOS process, it incompatible with the back-end digital circuit, also it will be difficult to undertake the chip design on the system level(System On Chip). Now the customers are the pursuit of values that are small, fine and inexpensive. In order to meet the requirements of the customers and the mainstream of the development trend of electronic technology, we design a low phase noise, broadband frequency domain and low-power CMOS integrated voltage-controlled oscillator, it is easy to accomplish the chip design on the system level, greatly improve the performance of the entire product. The design make the products to do real good and inexpensive, it is the inevitable trend of the development of the electronic communication technology.Based on the basic theory of the voltage-controlled oscillator and current research, we design an integrated voltage-controlled oscillator with CMOS, which has a low phase noise and wide frequency range. The paper first briefly introduces the development of voltage-controlled oscillator and puts forward some corresponding technical indexes and requirements, then we analyses the design of the integrated voltage-controlled oscillator, which mainly includes the characteristic of the integrated voltage-controlled oscillator structure and the selection of topology. Meanwhile it includes the requirements of the design of the varactor tube of the LC oscillator and the inductors on chip etc. The paper emphases on the the design of VOC tuning about the low phase noise and the broadband frequency domain. The research optimize the planar spiral inductor and design the parameter of the MOS varactor tube. we established the design parameters by put forward small signal equivalent model of the voltage-controlled oscillator. The paper also has carried on the simple analysis for other relevant circuit module of the voltage-controlled oscillator. We accomplish the main results of the work : the achievement of passive components resonance loop on chip, the focus on the optimization of flicker noise of the passive device, the noise reduction technology about the second harmonic resonance and the technology of the inductive voltage-controlled port. The design of the circuit uses SMIC 0.18 ?m CMOS technology, simulating by using the tool Spectre RF of the Cadence software,we get some results :the center frequency is 2.00 GHz, the output frequency is 1.85 GHz to 2.15 GHz, the tuning range is 0-15%, the phase noise is-128 d Bc / @ 600 KHz to-130 d Bc / @ 1MHz, the static power consumption is just 7.2m W. The system completely meets the requirements of the design.
