In view of customer demand, our company has been developing a device.The device is designed for working in severe conditions. Therefore, as testing component,not only can data recorder bear such environment conditions, but also it is taken as standard for testing whether other components work normally or not. This requires higher for performances and reliability of data recorder. According to analysis on specifications for the data recorder, it is planned to be designed with high resolution, long endurance, fast and convenient data transmission, etc.The work done in this paper includes the following parts: the first part elaborates on design specifications for the data recorder, analyzes on analog channel, digital channel and switching data to be captured, and generates system plan of the recorder based on theoretical and practical requirements. The hardware adopts most popular ARM platform,the software adopts ?C/OS-?. The second part describes specific plans for software design and hardware design. According to specific requirements for interface functions of the recorder, PHILIP's ARM7-based LPC2294 is taken as main processor, combined with peripheral circuit, forming data recorder system. As for hardware design, several important modules such as ARM processor module, A/D collecting module, data storage module and USB communicating module are elaborated, also, PCB manufacture is briefly introduced. The software is realized based on ?C/OS-?, operating system is utilized for management so as to realize all functions of the recorder. The third part illustrates reliability design. The design methods for improving the data recorder's system reliability are given in structure, hardware and software. The fourth part gives modulation and testing,including modulating flow and testing methods for key interfaces and function modules.This paper elaborates on design of data recorder, including demand analysis, overall design, software and hardware design, modulation and test, etc. Finally, according to full-scale test validation, the design is proved as be reasonable.
