Research On The Practice And Development Path Of Data Journalism In China

"Using data" was an important way to enhance the objective authenticity of journalism, in 2009, The Guardian brought the data into journalism and made it indispensible, data journalism emerged. Under the background of big data, the data journalism with profound and interesting topic, complex content using date mining technology, and cool present form attracted the audience's attention, becoming a new fore of fusion of multiple sources to the development of journalism. Data journalism practice in China started in 2011, and the research of journalism theories lagged behind practice, compared to the abroad. In recent years, research of data journalism was becoming a hot and innovative area in the field of journalism.The research of data journalism in China mainly concentrated on the practice case abroad and the effects on traditional journalism. On the base of previous studies, "data speaking "of Caixin.com was selected, production, content and present of data journalism were quantitatively analyzed using content analysis and the interviews assistant which was rarely used in domestic researches of similar type.It was showed that the data journalism practice of Caixin.com had its features that light reading and deep reporting interacted, network and mobile termination complemented. Some issues were found which included ambiguous data resources and small data level; difficulties in the professional competence of members and team size; narrative point of view, homogeneous topics and low malleability of news value; bad experience of visualization interaction.Aiming at problems found above, referring to successful experience of media and laboratories abroad, development paths of data journalism were proposed combined with national conditions. First, a rational orientation should be given to data journalism produced by the team assembled with professional journalists; the media make full use of its advantages and make data journalism the highlight of competition. Second, the topics of journalism need to be selected prudently, extending value chain of data journalism by deep digging. Last, proportion of Interaction diagrams need to be increased by visualization technology, promoting the audience interactive experience of reading continually.
