By means of the phase shifter to control the array antenna, which is arranged in space according to a certain rule, the phased array antenna is called phased array antenna. With the development of science and technology, as an important information acquisition equipment, radar has begun to shift from military to civilian, weather radar system has become one of the hot research fields in recent years. In order to overcome the inconvenience caused by the mechanical scanning of the weather radar antenna, the phased array antenna of the weather radar system is developed rapidly. The main content of this paper is as the main part of the weather radar system. According to the different index designed by one unit, the antenna can be used in the weather radar system. The antenna can be controlled by the combination of series feed network, power divider and phase shifter. The performance of the phased array antenna is designed to meet the technical requirements. The main contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly, this paper introduces the antenna correlation theory, especially the printed dipole antenna and array antenna. The basic concept of phased array feed system is introduced, and the design method of the series feed network and Wilkinson power divider is described.Secondly, the technical indexes of the 2 m phased array weather radar antenna are analyzed. The overall design scheme is proposed. The simulation results are carried out by using Ansys HFSS software. The simulation results include the Wilkinson power divider with the planar printed dipole, dipole linear array and its central feed network, rectangular planar array and a variety of different work. The simulation results of each stage are given, the overall simulation gain of the antenna is 27 d Bi, the first is less than-25 d B, the 3d B beam width is less than 9. The simulation results verify the feasibility of the scheme. Then according to the antenna model, the actual measurement and Simulation of the antenna are compared. The maximum gain is greater than 24 d Bi, and the beam pointing accuracy is less than 15. The results are in agreement with the simulation results. Finally, according to different technical indicators, a similar scheme is used to design another 4 meters high performance radar antenna. The antenna element continues to adopt planar printed dipoles, and the feed network is designed to reduce the complexity of the design. The results show that the maximum gain of the antenna is 33 d Bi, and the 3d B beam width is less than 4. The results confirm the feasibility of the scheme for designing the 4 m phased array weather radar antenna.
