Pulse diagnosis is an important component in diagnostics of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM), and it has a very long history. Dating back to ancient times, numerous doctors distinguished symptoms through the diagnosis of pulse condition information, which promotes continuous development of pulse diagnosis. Especially in recent years, the development of electropulsograph has made great breakthrough with the promotion of technology and the rise of interdisciplinary. But the dominant way of pulse detection is still with single or multiple pressure probe at present, which demands the accuracy of measurement area. In order to make up for the shortcomings, this paper innovatively puts forward a new way to detect pulse condition and developed a new pulse detection system based on composite probe.According to the previous research of pulse detection mode, composite probe which based on pressure sensor and the electret microphone was designed to collect pulse condition. Accurate pulse signals were acquired through the design of subsequent circuit. On the basis of TCM pulse technique, pulse pneumatic pressurization control module was designed to simulate the change of pulse-taking pressure. Meanwhile, other module circuit and single chip microcomputer control system based on ADuC845 were designed to control pulse detection and ensure the whole system work quickly and effectively. Single chip microcomputer control program and PC software were designed to guarantee good man-machine interactive. On the basis of system design, the composite signal were analyzed and processed. The conclusion that the first derivative of pulse pressure signal is significantly associated with pulse sound signal was found by the analysis of time domain, frequency domain, derivative and correlation. Starting from this, this paper proposed a new method of pulse detection. This paper used numerical integral method based on trapezoidal formula and acquired standard sphygmogram from pulse sound signal through a series of mathematical operations. Many cases of signal were testified with obvious pulse characteristics according to this method, and correlation coefficient with pulse pressure signal is greater than 0.85, which demonstrated strong correlation. The pulse detection system based on composite probe could more easily obtain rich pulse information, and the new method of pulse detection could preliminary get sphygmogram from pulse sound signal. The conclusion was testified good after many cases of experiment. This system and method provide a new train of thought for the objective study of TCM pulse diagnosis.
