Pulse-taking is a very important part of four traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)diagnosis methods:inspection, listening and smelling,inquiry,pulse-taking and palpation.Traditional pulse-taking diagnosis method distinguishes the pulse based on doctors, finger feeling. That is the reason for pulse-taking diagnosis requires seasoned doctors. But it doesn't guarantee that doctor can express the feelings clearly even an experienced doctor. This research developed a pulse-taking system for pulse recordings in Cun-Kou area.Three photoelectric sensors were adopted for the device because sensitivity to the pulse position is not as high as that of the pressure sensor. The horizontal platform of the Cun region and Chi region were constructed by the linear guide pair to realize the motion of the sensor on horizontal plane.Z-directional module for sensor was utilized for adjustment of the contact between the sensor and the skin.A STM32F107 microchip was applied in this device and amplifier and filter circuit were developed according to the characteristics of pulse signal. The pulse-taking device is more consistent with pulse diagnosis in TCM since photoelectric sensor is more convenient to acquire three-channel pulse signal simultaneously.Four kinds of empirical mode decomposition(EMD)method, including EMD,ensemble EMD(EEMD),Complete EEMD with adaptive noise(CEEMDAN),and improved CEEMDAN,were compared and pulse signals were filtered by improved CEEMDAN with correlation coefficient, energy density and mutual information. It performed well in debouncing and baseline wondering, especially. The single cycle of the pulse signal was extracted and the harmonic decomposition was carried out. This research creatively combined the harmonic parameters and the theory of Cun-Kou sub-designated zang-fu viscera.A pulse-taking experiment was conducted on 36 subjects. All subjects were divided into two groups, which are emaciation group(G1)and normal group(G2).It could be noted that there were statistical differences only on Guan region on right hand between G1 and G2(P<0.05).It was consistent with the theory of Cun-Kou sub-designated zang-fu viscera in TCM.The emaciation is directly related to the spleen and stomach. This research proves this theory with data and it has a certain guiding significance to the study of TCM objectivity.
