With the development of the technology of network and computer science, network information resources is increasingly which can't be ignored by scientific research work for its distinctive features and benefits. Now telecom-network is providing more comprehensive service, so it is necessary for the network manager to master more professional skills. But in reality no one can master all the knowledge. In the past the approach is using every single document. Now it is far not enough to meet the increasingly stringent requirements. So the knowledge base for fault handling is necessary to built.In this paper we use MediaWiki to build the knowledge base for fault handling and encyclopedia like Wiki to overcome the deficiencies of the single document. At first, this paper shows the background and significance of the research, analyzes the current situation of study of knowledge base both here and abroad, then it dwells on the central concepts of this research.As follows this paper introduces how to use MediaWiki to build our knowledge base and evaluate feasibility through practical examples of validation. So we built the knowledge base for fault handling and use MediaWiki extension tools to make it better. The knowledge base had the function of Account access control,fuzzy searching,rich text editing and category management. The knowledge base is also secondary developed for classifying by neural network and use the semantic database to enlarge the capacity of Coreseek. It made the open-source MediaWiki fitter for our work. At last we Evaluated the effect of MediaWiki. The compare results shows the knowledge base has great advantage.
