In 2000, China has entered the aging society,the number of elderly people is gradually increasing.In this background,the fifth plenary session of its 18 th Central Committee put forward strategies to deal with population aging and pay attention to the old.Meanwhile,the new media's development brought great impact on traditional media and habits of older people.Rural elderly accounted for nearly half of the total number of elderly population,whose media usage should be concerned about.The article is structured as follows:The first chapter includes the research background, literature review, research significance,research methods,concepts and theoretical basis relevant to this study.First, China is facing environment of aging population and changes in media,the fifth plenary session of its 18 th Central Committee response to population aging comprehensively,which is the policy background;Secondly, this study has combed the current research and clarifies the sense that restoring the true image and promoting media rights and interests of the elderly.literature research, interviews and content analysis can be used.Again, the meaning and characteristics of new media, senior citizens and the rights and interests of media are defined;Finally,human rights,the economic and socialize function of media and development of person are theoretical basis.The second chapter interview the typical rural elderly and people work in traditional and new media,realizing the present situation of media usage of the orderly and media practitioners' attitudes on this issue and summarize the problems.The third chapter analyzes the specific problems of rural senior citizens' media use and analyze the causes from policy,media level,the disadvantages of elderly, service and other difficulties in the use of new media and traditional media.The fourth chapter analyzes the importance of rural senior citizens' media use from the nature of Journalism and Communication, social development, rural elderlycitizens' human rights and media responsibility.The fifth chapter propose country, society, family and the media take concrete measures to facilitate the resolution of the issue.
