With the rapid development of network,the reliability and the management of network equipment have become the major issues in the network management.Network topology discovery is the basis of network management,which provides the informaion of the connection between devices.With the wide implementation of SNMP protocol in network devices,a lot of topology discovery methods have been generated in the network layer and data link layer.The topology discovery of the data link layer is more practical than the network layer topology discovery because of the more detailed and effective link connection information between devices.With the making and application of the LLDP standard for data link layer topology discovery,the PON system equipment of the access layer should also support the LLDP according to its own characteristics and provide the function of topology discovery.This paper first introduces the domestic and foreign research status,and then introduces network management technology and topology discovery technology,including the network layer topology discovery technology,such as topology discovery based on DNS,ICMP,RIP,OSPF,etc,and data link layer topology discovery technology,such as the topology discovery based on address forwarding table and STP protocol.Then,this paper analyzes the advantages and disadvantages between them.Then,This paper introduces the principle and key technology of PON,and the content,working principle and mechanism of LLDP protocol.Finally,the paper introduces,in detail,the implementation method of the LLDP module and the topology discovery algorithm of the network management program carried out by LLDP,and makes a functional verification of the topology wirh different connection types at last.
