With the development of the computer network technology, the network scale is growing, the network complexity and heterogeneity is higher. Then,how to effectively manage and control the network has become a prominent difficulty and challenge that people faced. As the base of network management, the automatic identification of physical connection between network nodes is an indispensable part of network security management, and it’s also the important reference to realize fault quickly and accurate positioning of network security management, ability of the recognition determines the effectiveness of network security management. Therefore, efficient and accurate identification of the physical connection between network nodes have important research significance.Made a detailed analysis to the key technologies of the current network node identification in this paper, and points out the disadvantages of them, and on the basis of traditional network nodes automatic identification technology, to optimize a more effective method to identify the physical connection of network nodesFirstly, simply introduces the research background of network topology discovery and the research status in domestic and foreign in this paper. Secondly, introduces the relevant concepts and basal knowledge about network management, expounds the relationship between the network security management and network topology discovery. Thirdly, the relevant concepts and principles about network topology discovery are analyzed, at the same time, their advantages and disadvantages and using scope are pointed out. Finally, the theory foundation and relevant key technology of network layer topology discovery based on SNMP is further studied, and points out the shortcomings of traditional network layer recognition algorithm; then the relevant concepts and principles about data-link layer topology discovery are also analyzed in detail, expounds the problems in need of innovation, and an improved algorithm of network topology discovery based on SNMP and LLDP is put forward.Based on the above research, an application research of the Network Physical Topology structure discovery system is developed in this paper. In addition, the system has been deployed and test in actual network environment. Test results indicate: the function and performance of this system can basic meet the needs of network security management.
