Network Topology Discovery Research Based On Campus Network

Along with the rapid expansion of network band and realtime and multimedia application, the infrastructure of Internet is becoming increasingly complicated, and it is of great importance to understand the topology structure and characteristics of the network for the ease of application, development, performance optimization and network security improvement.Topology discovery is the most important part of network management. This dissertation studied and analyzed the main topology discovery technologies and algorithms. Along with the campus network structures, we designed the data layer topology discovery algorithm based on FDB. The LLDP is new protocol which may be the ending measure of link-layer topology discovering. This paper designed the common data layer topology discovery algorithm based on LLDP. By using the SNMP++ software kits and visual C++ 6.0, we designed the prototype system of topology discovery which implements the functions of topology discovery and graphic display function, and also get the good test results in laboratory testing environment.
